Dare to Dream

Is there that one thing that you always wanted to achieve? Is there something that you once wished so hard and held so valuable but no more remembers it? What did you do with it? Did you finally forget it when life’s stride took you to unexpected turns?  Did you try your best, but it just did not happen your way? Or did you succumb to fear of failure or social pressure and did not dare give it a try?  Or did you tuck it to sleep with the accepted justification of being practical and realistic?

Take a moment to explore the world of fantasies and imagine how you would feel if your dream would have come true? Do you feel lot of positive energy flowing in? Rich or poor, big or small, every one of us has the right to dream and pursue them. It does not matter how the world looks at your dream, it does matter a lot to your world and you deserve to wish for it.

But the biggest question is – How do you get there?
There is a simple but hard way - Believe in your dream, start living with it and soon you will find it alive and giving birth to more!!

Easily said, is that really possible?

When Walt Disney was a child, he wished to enter Fairmont Park in Kansas City, but he could only watch through the fence as he did not have enough money to get a pass. He had shortcomings, but he had a big dream to live for. Today, his name is behind the chain of amusement theme parks and entertainment venues he opened around the world flooding with millions of visitors every year. His dream has given birth to millions of Disneyland dreams to children all around the world.

Nick Vujicic, was born without limbs, he started his life with no hands to do hold on and no legs to walk on. Did that stop him from dreaming a fulfilling life like anyone else? NO! Today, he is an independent individual and an internationally successful and motivational speaker. His book “Life without limits” encourages believing in a life where anything is possible. Every day, he influences people struggling from setbacks to overcome depression and move on in life.

Anna Hazare, could not complete his schooling due to financial difficulties and was once selling flowers at Dadar railway station. He got recruited to Indian army for Indo-China war and emerged as the sole survivor of enemy attack. Tough incidents in life gave him the vision and purpose of life. He transformed his native village from poverty to a self sufficient model village and was awarded the Padma Bhushan—the third-highest civilian award—by the Government of India in 1992. Today he is the face of Indian fight against corruption and motivates millions of Indians from all sectors of life.

N.R. Narayana Murthy had a dream to start a software company, but had no money to give it wings to fly. In I981, he and six of his friends registered the dream company with10000 Rs capital and kicked off their journey with days and nights of toil. Setbacks came one after another, but will power kept them moving. Today, his dream company is a software giant employing more than hundred thousand professionals and spread across 33 countries. IT has a major role in changing international perception of India from ‘land of beggars and snake charmers’ to the ‘land of brainy engineers and IT opportunities’.

These are not make-believe stories or grandmother fables; they are real and living beside us. Believe it!

After you gather all the courage and set on to try, expect obstacles on your way and get prepared for setbacks. When you stumble on an obstacle or face a setback, it is not wrong to get disappointed. It is natural to feel depressed and to get tempted to run away. Sometimes the setback comes with so much of negative force, that before you give it time to heal, it can force you to decide to quit. This is where most of us take the wrong turn choosing to fail.  But what we do not realize is that setback is only a temporary phase, give it time and its force will fade away. Surviving each set back will simply gain you a huge leap closer to your goal.

There are no shortcuts to perpetual happiness, but there definitely is a way. Remember, the bigger you dream, the longer is your way and the tougher it is to get there. But that is not a good enough reason to dream small. Best Wishes to all those who dare to dream big!
